100,000 acres of land to be distributed amongst women farmers: CM

KARACHI: The US Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs, Robert O Blake called on the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah at the CM House here on Friday and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest.
The Chief Minister apprised the US envoy about the different ongoing development projects and told him that during the two-year tenure of the PPP government, a record number of uplift works have been done. He said that the present government is implementing Rs90 billion worth development program in the province, adding that innovative programs of health and education have been initiated in the province. Hepatitis Centres have been established in each district headquarters to provide better healthcare facilities to the people, he added.
The CM said that the present government has also imparted training to 43,000 youths along with provision of jobs under the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Youth Development Program, while 70,000 youths would be trained this year, who will also be paid a monthly stipend, he said.
The CM said that 100,000 acres of land would be distributed amongst landless female farmers this year, while in Sindh 500,000 poor women would be provided with financial assistance under the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women Support Program. Mr Robert hailed the Pakistani government and its people for extending cooperation on the war against terrorism, and assured that the US would provide huge aid to Pakistan for boosting the education, health and energy sectors. The Sindh Chief Minister presented a shield and a gift of Ajrak and Sindhi cap to the US official.
