KHAIRPUR, April 9: The Sindh Hari Committee which met here on Friday rejected the proposed Sindh Tenancy Bill by terming it anti-peasant. The committee which was organised by Mandhal Shar and attended by Gulab Pirzado and Meenhon Khan Baloch, besides a large number of peasants, warned the provincial government of a protest campaign if the bill was moved in the Sindh Assembly.

They said that the Sindh Tenancy Act, drafted by Comrade Hyder Bux Jatoi and passed by the then Sindh Assembly, was acceptable to the peasants adding that the Sindh Hari Committee would itself introduce certain changes in it to meet peasants requirements.
The committee deplored that the government had failed to offer any relief package for the peasants and criticised the MPAs and MNAs for failing to take up issues facing the peasants.
The committee felt that the prevailing condition of the peasants in the province was painful as landlords do not provide them seed, fertiliser and pesticide according to law, and they had to bear all these expenses.
The meeting decided to observe death anniversary of Comrade Hyder Bux Jatoi by organising a peasants’ convention on May 21 in Sukkur and also elect a new body for Sindh Hari Committee.
