The second phase of distributing 50,000 acres of land among female farm workers will be announced soon, and open meetings are being held to accept applications from prospective farm workers, said Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah, while presiding over a meeting on Friday regarding distribution of land among poor female farm workers. Shah said that each worker would be given inputs and incentives worth Rs100,000 so as to enable the poor families to earn their living.

He said that his government wanted to alleviate poverty in the country, and distributing state land among the landless workers was a step in this direction. He said that the move is also aimed at increasing food production in the country.

Sindh Chief Secretary Fazalur Rehman said that the growers, the Zarai Taraqiati Bank and the sugar mills would work jointly for making progress in agricultural production.

The chairman of the bank, Zaka Ashraf, informed the meeting that the bank would give incentives to growers for adopting the latest technology. The farmers would be able to maximise agricultural production if they adopted such measures, and this would lead to greater properity, he hoped.

Ashraf also emphasised the need for water conservation measures.
